Kamrup Metropolitan District Implements Traffic Diversion for Long-Distance Buses Amid Flyover Construction
In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion caused by the ongoing flyover construction in the Maligaon area, the Kamrup Metropolitan District has issued a significant directive. The official order, issued on June 1, instructs all long-distance buses entering Guwahati to take a detour and reach the Rupnagar depot via National Highway 37.
The Kamrup Metro DC office, in a bid to inform citizens, commuters, and stakeholders about the diversion, shared the order on their official Twitter handle. The advisory aims to ensure smoother traffic flow and reduce congestion within the city.
Citing the ongoing construction as the primary reason for the congestion, the directive instructs buses to avoid entering through the Maligaon area. Instead, they are advised to take alternative routes through Lokhora, Garchuk, Beltola, or Khanapara.
By rerouting long-distance buses away from the affected area, the district administration hopes to minimize delays and inconvenience for commuters. The diversion is expected to remain in effect until the completion of the flyover construction, after which regular traffic flow is anticipated to resume.
Authorities have urged all concerned parties to adhere to the directive and cooperate in order to ensure a hassle-free transportation experience for both residents and visitors to Guwahati. Motorists have also been advised to stay updated on the latest traffic advisories and plan their routes accordingly.
