A high-level COVID review meeting was organized on Friday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The topics discussed in the COVID review meeting were the present scenario of COVID 19 in India, preparedness of the health systems to respond, availability of medical oxygen, and matters relating to production, supply, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccine noted a release issued by the Central Government.
The release noted that PM was briefed about the concentration of cases in a few states and areas and, districts with high test positivity as well as the week-on-week test positivity rate in the country.
Mr. Modi also spoke about the need for constant genome sequencing to monitor the emergence of mutants. At the meeting, he discussed that the entire ecosystem should work together to ensure to increase oxygen availability, including oxygen concentrators, cylinders, and PSA plants need to be rapidly augmented.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Modi on vaccination has apprised that around 58% of India’s adult population has received the first dose and around 18% of India’s adult population has received the second dose. PM was also updated about the vaccine pipeline and increased supply of vaccines. In the, meeting it is also speculated that PM was informed about the expected timing of the 3rd wave in India, he was briefed about the consequences of Corona’s third Wave in India.
