As part of CES 2023, Samsung announced the first smartphone OLED panel to achieve Ultra Dynamic Range certification which is granted by UL Solutions with 2,000 nit luminance. Several key specs have just been teased by its display division-
- The peak brightness can reach 2,000 nits
- It produces better three-dimensional effects due to the screen’s higher brightness
- The power efficiency can be increased by up to 25%.
- Rich colour expression will result in a more realistic picture
It is the first time that a smartphone screen made of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) has been certified for its 2,000 nits of brightness by Samsung.
In terms of its OLED display for smartphones, the company achieved both UDR 2,000 and UDR 1,500 marks. By earning the UDR designation, this OLED display has been validated by a world-class verification firm as having the maximum brightness levels of up to 2,000 nits. Nowadays, displays have become highly dependent on brightness ranges and the ability to sustain them with the rise of ultra-high-definition content. Samsung’s extra high-brightness products deliver better quality with more vivid colours that make the user’s experience more enjoyable.
Furthermore, since smartphones are nowadays frequently used both indoors and outdoors, it is more important to have a bright screen than a screen on a TV, monitor, or laptop. Samsung brand has also increased the daylight readability of smartphone displays without sacrificing efficiency in battery use.
