A 13-year old girl from Peumbakkam, Chennai was pushed into the heinous flesh trade business by her relatives where she was raped by multiple men.
A 39-year old journalist, Vinoba G was arrested by an All Women police team in Chennai on Monday in this regard. He is the 16th accused to be arrested so far in this case while other accused, which includes the girl’s six relatives, a police inspector C Pugalendhi, a few brokers, a BJP functionary as well as few men who had raped her were arrested earlier.
Vinoba is a local TV journalist who hails from Vinoba Nagar of Tondiarpet and is also into financing.
”Vinoba lent money for interest to the main accused Madhan and his sister Sandhya and is very close to them. It is through that link that he sexually assaulted the 13-year-old girl three times in a period of two months, including inside the office of the BJP functionary,” a police officer informed.
The victim was pushed into prostitution after she came to her niece’s place in Vyasarpadi where she was sexually assaulted by her niece’s second husband, Madhan. Later, his sister along with him, Sandhya made connections with few brokers at a hefty price of Rs 1.5 per week. The brokers would then invite and arrange for perpetrators who would rape the girl child gruesomely. The police informed that a few more men are yet to be arrested.
