Authorities to continue search operations in Dawki to retrieve the remains of the victims in the brutal double homicide case
On February 25, the Guwahati Police will conduct additional search operations in Dawki, Meghalaya, to find the remains of the victims of a horrifying double murder in Noonmati. The prime suspect in the case, Bandana Kalita, along with her accomplices, Arup Deka and Dhanjit Deka, will assist the police in the search operations. Bandana Kalita was moved from the All Women Police Station in Panbazar to the Noonmati Police Station, while Arup Deka and Dhanjit Deka were already lodged in the latter. The machete used in the murder was discovered by the police during search operations on February 23 and sent for forensic analysis.
Before the search operations, the three suspects were questioned at the Noonmati Police Station for an hour, following which they were taken to Bondajanbeel for the search. Police also raided a nearby store in Patharquary, capturing store owner Imran Ansari, from whom Bandana Kalita allegedly purchased the machete for Rs 320.
Bandana Kalita was sentenced to an additional six days of police custody on February 22 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court after completing four days of custody that ended on February 22. It is worth mentioning that Bandana Kalita, along with her accomplices, allegedly planned to murder her husband and mother-in-law. After carrying out the gruesome killings, the pieces of their bodies were stored in a refrigerator for three days before being disposed of in Dawki. The police found several missing body parts and the body of one of the deceased in Dawki during their search operations.
