Late on Sunday evening, a powerful bomb exploded near Manipur’s legislative assembly in Imphal and at Thangmeib.
According to an official source, the explosion injured a laborer. The attack was carried out by unknown individuals who arrived on two-wheelers and threw a hand grenade at the residential gate of a Manipur Public Works Department assistant engineer in Thangmeib.
Fortunately, the engineer, NandeibamIngocha, was not present at the time of the blast. The explosion resulted in a laborer named Bikash Kumar, who was working on the engineer’s home construction, suffering injuries to his left leg.
Bikash was taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, where doctors indicated his condition was not serious.
The culprits escaped after the grenade was thrown, and till now, no underground group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Police responded by sending a team of Imphal West district police to investigate the incident.
