Assam’s Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, announced Thursday that the new school academic session would commence on April 1, 2023. As a part of the new session, students will receive free textbooks in the first week of April. The formal classroom teaching will begin on April 10, preceded by a week of Utsaav Vidyarambha, as stated by Pegu.
Additionally, the Assam government will observe March 31 as Student Day to honour the social reformer Upendra Nath Brahma. The government has planned to launch several schemes for students on that day. As a part of the initiative, minority girl students will be eligible for state scholarships. Moreover, a mobility grant will be introduced for girl students who are pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Undergraduate and postgraduate students will also receive book grants. Furthermore, incentives on mess dues and fee waiver grants to colleges will be launched on March 31, 2023.
