On April 1st, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Mizoram to inaugurate several projects and lay foundation stones for others. The gross cost of these projects will be Rs 2,415 crore. Among the projects is the Assam Rifles Battalion Complex, located in Aizawl, which is being relocated from its current headquarters at Zodin to Zokhawsang, about 15 km east of Aizawl. The Assam Rifles is responsible for guarding Mizoram’s 510 km border with Myanmar and has two bases in Aizawl.
As Shah undertakes his visitation, he is preoccupied with the weighty task of engendering the requisite foundations for an extensive suite of infrastructural undertakings, including, inter alia, the formidable construction of the Zorinpui-Longmasu NH-502A, a project of vast proportions estimated to possess a monetary value of Rs 781.85 crore. Not to be outdone, the Aizawl Bypass (Package 1) NH-6 commands an impressive price tag of Rs 329.70 crore, while the Aizawl Bypass (Package 3) NH-6 claims an even more impressive valuation of Rs. 720.72 crores. And finally, the enterprise of erecting the Laldenga Center looms large with an ostensible value of Rs 193 million. These developments, together, are intended to engender a surge of modernization in the region, with the laudable goal of propelling the state towards a more robust and prosperous future.
Last week, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga met with the Union Home Minister and expressed his gratitude for his commitment to constructing the Assam Rifles Regiment Complex at Zokhawsang and laying the foundation stone for the Laldenga Cultural Center.
