SP Takes Suo-Moto Notice of Sexual Abuse Against Minor Girl in Silchar

A child from Silchar, an orphan, allegedly found herself in an abusive scenario after being afraid of her uncle’s punishment for arriving late.

She phoned her boyfriend for refuge late at night, but he brought two friends who began groping her improperly. One of the three guys offered her a safe location to stay the night with his family, but she was touched inappropriately in Silcoorie by her boyfriend’s friend. Then she called her boyfriend for help. However, despite her numerous refusals, her partner took her to an isolated residence on Sonai Road in Silchar and raped her.

The police rescued the girl and took her to a shelter, where they identified and detained the three individuals responsible for the sexual assault and molestation. The family first resolved the matter out of court. Still, the Superintendent of Police (SP), Numal Mahatta, intervened and pushed the police to file a suo moto case, ensuring that the accused would be brought before a judge for custodial interrogation and that severe penalties will be taken.
