The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to take over the investigation into the mysterious death of Assam police sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha. Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh announced this during a media briefing in Pathsala. Currently, the case is being probed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam police.
In a significant development, the CID has summoned two police officers, Abhajyoti Rabha and Rupjyoti Kalita, for questioning in connection with the case. Their actions are under scrutiny as the investigation delves into the circumstances surrounding Rabha’s untimely demise.
Sumitra Rabha, the dead officer’s mother, submitted a First Information Report (FIR) on May 19, claiming foul play and requesting a comprehensive inquiry into her daughter’s murder. She is convinced that her daughter’s death was deliberate and not accidental. The police report was filed at the Jakhalabandha police station in the Assam district of Nagaon.
In light of rising pressure and the gravity of the charges, the decision to move the matter to the CBI is intended to guarantee an unbiased and exhaustive inquiry. The involvement of the CBI provides hope for justice and the revelation of the facts behind the unfortunate death of Junmoni Rabha.
