Samsung delayed the release of the security update due to its focus on rolling out Android 13. The new security update is now being rolled out to Galaxy S20 devices
The January 2023 security patch is being seeded to eligible Galaxy devices as the month begins to end shortly. However, some of the Korean tech giant’s flagship models such as Galaxy S20 are still receiving the old update of December 2022
It is expected that the latest security update will be released to Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones in India in January but that does not happen and many users are complaining for the same since they are getting old updates. It should also be noted that the company is currently rolling out the devices to a few countries in the current month.
A security patch for Android smartphones was released in December 2022 to address 67 security vulnerabilities. Additionally, this update addresses 26 security issues that have been discovered in Galaxy smartphones. Five of the vulnerabilities are considered critical, while the remaining 63 are considered high. Samsung’s monthly security bulletin describes 12 vulnerabilities as ‘moderate’
It is really a concern that Samsung s20 users are still getting old December updates while others are receiving latest updates. The regular upgrade of your operating system may delay security updates in some cases. Users, however, can relax knowing that the newly released operating system versions will come with all the latest and greatest security updates
