Today, Gandhi departed from Delhi, eager to extend his support to the affected communities during his two-day visit. His itinerary includes meetings with representatives from civil society organizations and visits to relief camps where victims of the recent violence have sought refuge.
The violence that erupted on May 3, 2023, has caused immense suffering and displaced numerous individuals in Manipur. In an effort to comprehend the magnitude of the situation, Gandhi intends to engage directly with the victims residing in the relief camps.
KC Venugopal, the Congress General Secretary, has confirmed the specifics of Gandhi’s visit. The Congress leader plans to visit both Imphal and Churachandpur, where he will interact with civil society organizations actively involved in assisting those affected by the ethnic strife.
This visit to Manipur marks Rahul Gandhi’s first trip to the northeastern state since the outbreak of violence.
