Two overground workers (OGWs) of the NSCN-KYA were detained on April 16, 2023, in the Tirap area of Arunachal Pradesh, in a combined operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and the Arunachal Pradesh police.
According to sources, the combined team discovered two mobile phones, a sword, and a variety of documents from the arrested suspects’ possession. The capture of the insurgents is seen as a significant blow to the actions of NSCN-KYA. In Northeast India, the separatist group NSCN-KYA has been involved in illicit operations such as extortion, abduction, and arms smuggling.
The operation was conducted after security forces obtained information regarding the presence of NSCN-KYA agents in the region. The united team successfully initiated the operation and nabbed the two OGWs.
The arrested suspects and confiscated goods have been sent to the appropriate Arunachal Pradesh police station for further investigation. To counteract the illicit actions of rebel groups, the security forces have been undertaking many operations in the Northeast. The effective capture of NSCN-KYA agents is a big accomplishment and a major blow to the outfit.
