MP of Silchar Rajdeep Roy and DC Keerthi  Jalli gave a strong message to Patwari and Kanungo of the concerned department to stop corruption by land brokers.

An important meeting was held with all the Patwaris and Circle Officers of the district at the auditorium of Silchar Gandhi Bhaban on Tuesday. Rajdeep said the brokers would never have had the courage without the covert support of Patwari, Kanungodo, an officer of the land office.

Under the leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma, the policy of zero corruption taken by the government of Assam has taken steps to stop Dalal-Raj. Rajdeep stated that every circle office of the district should be free of corruption or else more strict actions will be taken.

During the meeting, Dr. Rajdeep Roy said that the land required for important projects in the district is not available at present due to the corruption in land offices. Rajdeep said leased land has been shown up to the government khas land, tea garden land. As a result, it is becoming difficult to find suitable land for projects like the new proposed Green Airport, FCI warehouse, Cachar District Magistrates office.

He made it clear that the government would soon install CCTV cameras in every circle office to free the land mafia and brokers. Rajdeep has set a deadline of December 31, 2022, to release all the government lands in Cachar and update the documents.

The MP said the land record would have to be fixed within this period. He added that the Patwaris have been accused of being involved in land scams at various times. So he warned the concerned people, then if someone’s name is involved and the allegation is proved, then one should be ready for severe punishment. No more excuses. The place will be in jail.

On this day, District Commissioner Keerthi Jalli also set the land record in a strict tone. The message was given by the officer of the land office, Patwari, and others concerned in the meeting. In the end, he said he is hopeful that the problem will be solved soon.
