Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar has advised Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma to take a vacation from the present Indian Premier League (IPL). The suggestion comes after Mumbai Indians suffered a defeat against the Gujarat Titans by 56 runs in their recent match.
Gavaskar advised Sharma to rest before the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia and return fresh for the crucial encounter. Gavaskar suggested that Sharma return for the last few IPL matches and keep himself in shape for the WTC Final.
The former captain also criticized the Mumbai Indians bowlers for repeating the same mistakes and urged the team to make necessary changes in the playing XI. Gavaskar opined that players who make the same errors should be dropped from the group and work on improving their skills.
Only two of their first six IPL matches have been won by Mumbai Indians this season. Gavaskar believes the team must play exceptional cricket to qualify for the playoffs.
It remains to be seen if Sharma takes a break from the IPL and returns fresh for the WTC Final against Australia. Mumbai Indians will aim to rebound from their previous loss when they face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their upcoming encounter.
