Virender Sehwag, the former Indian cricketer known for his aggressive batting style, recently shared an interesting anecdote about his encounter with Prithvi Shaw, the talented young cricketer, during an ad shoot. Surprisingly, despite spending six hours together, they didn’t discuss cricket.
While recounting the incident, Sehwag stressed the importance of approaching senior players for guidance and advice. According to him, during the 6 hours they spent together, Prithvi Shaw never brought up anything about the game and never sought help from him.
Sehwag then went on to mention how he had taken the initiative to request a meeting with legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Sehwag encouraged struggling players to seek support from their senior counterparts and discuss their concerns openly.
The former opener highlighted the need for proactive effort and communication, stating that senior players may only sometimes reach out to younger players. The juniors need to request a conversation and seek valuable insights from their experienced teammates or veterans of the game.
Sehwag also emphasized the significance of mental fitness and a strong mindset in cricket. He stated that talent alone is only sufficient if a player is mentally prepared and focused.
