National Award-winning actor, Manoj Bajpayee, recently shed light on the long-standing issue of nepotism in the film industry while also expressing his sorrow over the loss of Sushant Singh Rajput. In a candid interview, Bajpayee acknowledged the existence of nepotism in the industry and advised aspiring actors from outside the industry not to let it discourage them. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on honing their craft.
Reflecting on his own career, Bajpayee revealed that he was not affected by nepotism since star kids generally do not opt for the kind of films he chooses, which are often non-commercial in nature. However, he shared a personal connection with the late Sushant Singh Rajput, having developed a close bond during the filming of “Sonchiriya.” Rajput had confided in Bajpayee about the challenges and concerns he faced.
According to Bajpayee, Rajput’s inability to navigate the politics and groupism prevalent in the industry, along with the mounting pressure and cut-throat competition as one climbs the ladder of success, led to his unfortunate demise. Bajpayee emphasized that Rajput had aspired to be a star and had chosen a different career path, which resulted in intense competition that he struggled to cope with.
