Mizoram Police have successfully seized a substantial amount of heroin with an estimated value of Rs 12 crore and arrested an individual linked to the case. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials intercepted a truck near Aizawl, leading to the discovery of illegal narcotics.
The police team, acting on credible information, intercepted the truck suspected of carrying contraband substances. With a thorough search of the truck, officers made a shocking discovery – 200 soap cases, cleverly concealing the seized heroin.
A 16 year old helper was also arrested who was assisting the truck driver. The young suspect, originally from Hailakandi district in Assam, was apprehended in connection with the drug bust.
The seized heroin, the truck, and the detained individual were promptly handed over to the Bawngkawn police station for further investigations and necessary legal action. Preliminary findings suggest that the contraband was smuggled into Mizoram from Myanmar, highlighting the regional and cross-border nature of the drug trade.
