Uttarakhand’s cricket sensation, Akash Madhwal, has set the cricketing world abuzz with his outstanding performance in the IPL 2023. Representing the Mumbai Indians, Madhwal made a sensational impact in the eliminator game against the Lucknow Super Giants by claiming an incredible five wickets with astonishing figures of 5/5 in just 3.3 overs.
At the age of 24, he started playing with the red ball. However, his exceptional talent caught the attention of esteemed coaches such as Wasim Jaffer and Manish Jha, who recognized his potential and encouraged him to focus on leather ball cricket.
Originally a replacement for the injured Suryakumar Yadav, Madhwal’s remarkable performance has solidified his position in the Mumbai Indians squad.
Further highlighting his rising prominence, Madhwal has been named the white-ball captain of the Uttarakhand team for the upcoming 2023 domestic season, a testament to his growing stature in the cricketing scene.
Interestingly, Madhwal shares a connection with Indian batting sensation Rishabh Pant, as both players hail from the same area in Uttarakhand. Madhwal received training from Avtar Singh, who was instrumental in Pant’s early development before the latter moved to Delhi.
