In a heart-wrenching incident near the Rajdhani Masjid intersection, a class 11 student named Priya Kumari lost her life in a tragic accident. Priya and her sister were riding a scooter when they were struck from behind by a school bus bearing the registration number AS01PC7411.
The collision forcefully threw both sisters onto the road, resulting in immediate and fatal injuries for Priya Kumari. Shockingly, instead of stopping and offering assistance, the bus driver, identified as Bipul Boro, attempted to flee the scene, further exacerbating the distressing situation.
Local residents, outraged by the incident, have cited the high speed of the bus and the presence of dug-up pathways in the area as contributing factors to the accident. The proximity of the accident to the Dispur Police Station and the Assam Legislative Assembly campus has also drawn criticism towards local traffic police officials, accusing them of alleged inefficiency.
However, authorities took swift action as the Basistha Police impounded the bus, which belongs to a private school. The driver, Bipul Boro, has been apprehended, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
