Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, came to Assam to attend Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s Majuli program on Sunday.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Sonowal inaugurated ‘Sahodar 2020-21’ in Jengraimukh in Majuli district, a cultural exchange program for various ethnic communities of the state.
Sonowal said the Sahodar program of the Assam government has made an enormous contribution to strengthening unity and harmony among different ethnic groups, and no incident of ethnic violence has occurred in the state since 2016.
While speaking during the occasion, actor Vivek Oberoi has mentioned his desire to create a web series or film about the legendary tales of Lachit Borphukan, Assam’s great warrior hero. In the biopic ‘PM Narendra Modi’, Oberoi has played the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the historic battle of Saraighat, a battle fought in 1671, Borphukan was a general in the Ahom Empire, who defeated the Mughals.
“It’s very important that the entire world should know about the history and the legends of the great warrior Lachit Borphukan. His story needs to be a part of Indian history and I have planned to make a web series or a movie on him,” the actor mentions.
Oberoi, on the Majuli River Island function, also said he was intrigued by the Borphukan legends.
“When I sent pictures of the places, my family people told me that they also want to be here. I will come with them and stay for some days and do my research for the movie,” the actor said.
He also praised Chief Minister Sonowal for his effort to make Majuli a carbon-free district. And said he is intrigued by Majuli’s natural beauty and wants to visit Majuli somewhere next year along with his family and spend some time on the island.
“In the serene tea garden of awesome Assam. The soft breeze and captivating smell of tea leaves leave you enamoured,” said Vivek Oberoi’s recent tweet.
