In a tragic incident of violence that unfolded on June 13, miscreants unleashed a wave of terror in Manipur, claiming the lives of nine individuals and leaving nine others injured. The attack occurred in Khamenlok village, located in the Kangpokpi district, where assailants opened fire and set several houses ablaze.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, multiple people sustained injuries in Gobajang, Tamenglong district, as miscreants wreaked havoc by setting fire to residences.
The recovery of firearms and 63 rounds of ammunition in Tengnoupal and Imphal-East districts over the last 24 hours highlights the gravity of the situation. Manipur’s security advisor, Kuldiep Singh, disclosed that the total count of seized arms has reached 1,040, along with 13,601 ammunition rounds and 230 various types of explosive devices.
In response to the prevailing unrest, the District Administration of East Imphal district has revised the curfew hours, which will now be in effect from 5 am to 9 am, as communicated in a notice issued on June 14.
