World Affairs I Pregnant Afghan policewoman killed by Taliban in front of her family I The Readers Time

As the Taliban took control entire Afghanistan, experts believe that Afghan women are most likely to face an uncertain future under the group’s regime. Recently, an incident took place in Afghanistan where the Afghan journalist tweeted that, A Afghan policewoman was shot dead by the Taliban in front of her family. This horrific incident took place in the Country’s Ghor province.

Afghan Journalist Bilal Sarwary tweeted on 5 August, ” Negara a police officer was shot dead in front of her kids and husband last night at 10 pm in Ghor province. Negara was 6 months pregnant, she was shot dead by the Taliban.” As per the BBC report, the Taliban said that they had no involvement in Negar’s death and are investigating the incident. The spokesman Zabiullah Mujaheed said, ” We are aware of the incident and I am confirming that the Taliban have not killed her, our investigation is ongoing”.

He further said the policewoman could have been killed because of “personal enmity or something else” saying that the Taliban had already confirmed amnesty for people who worked for the previous administration. The relatives of Negar have supplied graphics images showing blood spattered on a wall in the corner of a room and a body. The family says Banu Negar was 6  months pregnant and she was working at the local police.

The witnesses have told the BBC that ” The Taliban beat and shot the woman in front of her husband and children on 4th August as others were scared of speaking out for fear of retribution”.  They also said that three men holding guns arrived at the house on that day and search it before tying up the family members.

However, this horrific incident comes after a woman activists Nargis Saddat was seen in the video with blood streaming down her face as she was beaten by the Taliban while she was protesting seeking political rights under the Taliban rule. The Afghan women demanded that they get their right to education and hold offices bearing the placards and raising slogans.
