Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has inaugurated three model schools in the Dibrugarh district, namely Bhitor Chabua, Nahortoli, and Romai tea estates. These schools aim to provide essential education to students in tea gardens. The move follows the opening of 97 model schools in Assam last year, with plans to inaugurate 19 more this year, of which 18 will be affiliated with the CBSE.
On the day of its inauguration, the Nahortoli model school enrolled over 200 students. The government has taken up the responsibility of improving 419 tea garden schools, with a focus on providing better education for students in these areas. The initiative to uplift education in tea garden regions was attributed to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the former Education Minister.
During the inauguration of the Romai TE Model School in Lahowal LAC, RanojPegu expressed delight and commended the efforts made to bridge the education gap. The ceremony was attended by Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, Chabua MLA Punakon Baruah, ADC Sanghamitra Baruah, and Inspector of Schools Binti Sharma.
