Five-time IPL champions, the Mumbai Indians notched another feather in their cap with their seemingly effortless victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite remarkable performances from players across the board, the limelight was stolen by Arjun Tendulkar, the son of Sachin Tendulkar, one of the game’s all-time greats.
Arjun, a left-handed seamer and hitter, was acquired by Mumbai Indians in the 2021 auction after spending two years on standby. He eventually had his chance to shine as he began bowling for his team and performed admirably in his first game.
Watching the match from the sidelines, Sachin Tendulkar posted a heartfelt message for his son after the match, referring to the occasion as the “start of a beautiful journey.”
Arjun, who is only 21 years old, was naturally anxious before his debut game, but he soon relaxed. The teenager bowled only two overs and finished with 0-17, but it was a promising start. Rohit Sharma, the current Indian captain and the captain of the Mumbai Indians, lauded the youngster’s performance after the match.
The victory over Kolkata Knight Riders was particularly crucial for Mumbai Indians, who chased down 186 runs in just 18 overs. The team has been in fine form this season and will look to extend its winning run in future matchups.
Sachin and Arjun Tendulkar also became the first father-son duo featured in the IPL.
