Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain Virat Kohli and Lucknow Super Giants Coach Gautam Gambhir were involved in another verbal altercation following yesterday’s match. The incident occurred after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 18-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
The heated exchange between the two cricketers occurred after LSG opener Kyle Mayers walked up to Kohli and started speaking something, and other players and support staff were seen separating the two. Visuals from the match showed Gambhir animatedly talking to Kohli after the incident, with both players admitting to a Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
Despite the intensity of the altercation, Kohli downplayed the incident in his Instagram story, referring to it as just an “opinion” and “perspective”.
Interestingly, this was not the first time the two sides had clashed in the IPL, with Gambhir signalling the RCB home crowd to be quiet after LSG’s narrow win in the previous encounter. The tense atmosphere at the stadium was further fuelled by KL Rahul’s valiant effort to bat through a leg injury, but his heroics were in vain as LSG were bowled out for just 108.
