The Assam government has launched a massive reorganisation within the civil service, impacting top employees from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Assam Civil Service (ACS), and Indian Revenue Service (IRS) (IRS). The transfer orders have been issued to streamline the functioning of various departments.
Mr. Farouk Alam, a seasoned ACS officer, has been appointed as the new commissioner and secretary to the environment and forest department, aiming to strengthen environmental governance and conservation efforts in the state.
Meanwhile, Ms Padmapani Bora, an accomplished IRS officer, has been relieved from her position as director of Assam tourism. This move suggests a strategic shift in the tourism sector, signalling the government’s intentions to explore fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to boost regional tourism.
In another notable transfer, Mr Akash Deep, commissioner and secretary to the Assam government, has been posted as the principal secretary and chief executive officer of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in Kokrajhar. This transfer optimises administrative efficiency and ensures comprehensive development in the BTR region.
Moreover, Mr Ranoj Kumar Borkataky, a talented ACS officer, has been transferred to the tourism department as its director, indicating the government’s focus on revitalising and reimagining the tourism sector’s growth trajectory.
Lastly, Mr Md Hanif has been appointed as the director of the Inland Water Transport Department, demonstrating the government’s commitment to improving and expanding the state’s water transport infrastructure.
