The Member of Parliament from Silchar, Dr Rajdeep Roy, took to Twitter today to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) scheme. In his tweet, he hailed the scheme as a game-changer that has provided affordable accident insurance coverage to millions of Indians.
PMSBY is a government-backed insurance scheme launched on May 9, 2015, to provide affordable accident insurance coverage to people in economically weaker sections of society. The scheme offers a renewable one-year accidental death and disability cover of Rs. 2 lahks for a premium of just Rs. 12 per annum.
Dr Rajdeep Roy thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing this unique #JanSuraksha scheme that safeguards lives. He also lauded the scheme for its contribution to financial inclusion and the protection of the vulnerable sections of society.
With more than 25 crore people enrolled, PMSBY has become one of India’s most well-liked insurance schemes during the past eight years. Thanks to the program, millions of people have access to a safety net, especially during trying times.
