In a disturbing incident that unfolded on Friday night, a de-addiction centre in Samaguri, Assam, was thrown into chaos as six inebriated youths armed with sharp objects threatened staff members and escaped after forcibly breaking the centre’s door. The alarming incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
Swift response by the authorities to the distress calls led to the arrest of five individuals involved. However, one youth remains at large as the search for their apprehension continues.
Residents in the vicinity of the de-addiction centre have long complained of disruptive and disrespectful behaviour from the individuals residing there, who allegedly engage in nightly episodes of consuming intoxicants.
Upon receiving reports from concerned locals, the Samaguri police promptly arrived at the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation into the matter. The incident has drawn attention to the urgent need for enhanced security measures and stricter vigilance within such facilities to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The Arising Wellness Society, dedicated to assisting individuals in their journey towards recovery, now faces the daunting task of repairing the damages caused by the fleeing youths and re-evaluating their protocols to ensure the safety of both staff members and those seeking assistance with addiction-related issues.
