The Union home minister to address the first-ever National Cooperative Conference in Delhi

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, who is also the first Minister of Co-operation of India, will address the first-ever National Cooperative Conference in Delhi, on Saturday. On Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) added that millions of people who are linked to these collective bodies from all around the world will join the programme virtually. BJP also mentioned in a statement that, more than 2,000 people who are associated with the cooperative, will be present at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. It is expected that more than 80 million in total will virtually participate in the event.

While speaking to a reporter, the Cooperative ministry’s spokesperson said, “This is the first big event (where) the minister will address the cooperatives and will share the government’s vision and outline the roadmap for the development of this sector in the country.”

Regarding the matter, the official added that Amit Shah’s National Cooperative Conference 2021 will be the very first time when members of the cooperative will get to hear from the minister directly about the Centre’s plan for the sector. Minister of State of Cooperation B.L. Verma and International Cooperatives Alliance (Global) President Ariel Guarco also will participate in the conference.

The organizers of Saturday’s conference will include the likes of IFFCO, the National Cooperative Federation of India, Amul, Sahakar Bharti, etc. The live broadcast of the programme will be available on the social media platforms of all the above bodies from 11 am on Saturday.

Meanwhile, IFFCO mentioned in a statement that the mega-conference will play a significant role in the Indian cooperative on the global stage and work towards realizing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.

The formation of the Union Ministry of Cooperation was done in July this year. As per the statement given by an official, the ministry’s objective is to strengthen the cooperative movement in India by providing a separate administrative, legal, and policy framework and streamline the processes to enable the development of Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS).
