In a not-so-surprising turn of events, Adipurush, directed by Om Raut and featuring the talented Prabhas in the lead, witnessed a significant drop in box office collections on its 13th day of release. Early estimates suggest that the film amassed approximately Rs 1.5 crore across all languages in India, with Hindi collections amounting to Rs 97 lakh.
Despite a strong opening weekend, Adipurush’s box office performance has been dwindling, raising concerns about its overall success. Prabhas, whose previous films Saaho and Radhe Shyam struggled to impress audiences and failed to make a mark at the box office, had high hopes pinned on Adipurush.
The film faced its fair share of controversies due to certain dialogues, which resulted in the producers making revisions. However, it seems that the audience remained unforgiving. The makers even resorted to reducing ticket prices on select weekdays, but this tactic failed to make a significant impact on the film’s collections.
Adding to Adipurush’s challenges, it now faces tough competition from Satyaprem Ki Katha, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani.
With a reported budget of Rs 500 crore, Adipurush was expected to be a blockbuster, but it has fallen short of expectations. Nonetheless, it currently holds the position of the second-highest-grossing film of the year, trailing Pathaan, featuring the legendary Shah Rukh Khan. Pathaan has achieved a lifetime nett domestic collection of Rs 543.05 crore, while The Kerala Story and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar stand at Rs 242.20 crore and Rs 149.05 crore, respectively.
