In a dramatic IPL final against the Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) prevailed, claiming their fifth title in a rain-affected match in Ahmedabad. CSK set a revised target of 171 runs from 15 overs due to the weather delays, which greatly impacted the final result.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (26), Devon Conway (47), Ajinkya Rahane (27), and Ambati Rayudu all contributed to CSK’s run chase (19). MS Dhoni, the captain and beloved leader, was removed by Mohit Sharma for a golden duck, leaving CSK with a formidable assignment.
With 10 runs needed from the final two balls, the emphasis was on Shivam Dube (32) and Ravindra Jadeja (15 not out). Dube hammered a six in a breathless show of nerves, and Jadeja followed it up with a boundary to give CSK the win.
Deepak Chahar, one of the most important bowlers for CSK, demanded an autograph from Dhoni during the post-match celebrations. Dhoni first declined the request jokingly, much to Chahar’s pleasure. However, the influence of important Indian cricket administration official Rajeev Shukla got Dhoni to sign Chahar’s jersey. The humorous occurrence instantly went popular on social media.
Sai Sudharsan of the Gujarat Titans displayed his batting skills by scoring 96 runs off 47 balls, including six soaring sixes, adding to his team’s total of 214-4. With this triumph, CSK tied the record established by the Mumbai Indians, as both clubs have won the IPL championship five times.
