In a bid to bring calm and tranquillity to the violence-stricken state of Manipur, Kuki volunteers released five Meitei youths who were in their custody on July 2. The apprehended individuals, who were mechanics, were suspected of having connections with the Meitei radical group known as Arambai Tenggol.
During the course of the interrogation, the detained individuals made startling claims, alleging that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh was the mastermind behind the ongoing crisis plaguing Manipur. These revelations added a significant twist to the already volatile situation in the region.
Despite the potential links to the radical group and the sensational information disclosed, the Kuki volunteers made a compassionate decision to release the youths as a gesture of goodwill. Their aim was to convey a message to the Meitei community, urging them to renounce violence against the Kukis.
In a show of their peace-loving nature, the Kuki volunteers handed over the individuals to the Jat Regiment of the Indian Army, who will subsequently facilitate their safe return to their respective families.
The Kuki volunteers emphasized their hope that this humanitarian and goodwill gesture would inspire the Meitei community to embrace a peaceful mindset and put an end to the cycle of violence that has engulfed the state.
