National Helicopter Carrier Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) is set to launch helicopter services on 6 Routes in Assam on 8th February 2023.
Pawan Hans Limited has been granted 86 routes under the RCS UDAN scheme in total 6 states. PHL started the project by launching its RCS UDAN services connecting Dibrugarh with Jorhat and Jorhat with Tezpur. Next, the company will connect the other route: Guwahati with Tezpur, Tezpur with Jorhat with Dibrugarh.
The company plans to launch its services in neighboring states such as Arunachal Pradesh. In addition, the Ministry of Civil Aviation took the initiative to boost air connectivity to relatively backward areas of the northeastern region, where the prime mode of transportation is through rail.
According to the Ministry, the launch of Helicopter services will provide ease of transportation to the people, boosting the trade and tourism of the northeastern regions.
Besides, under the Centre’s regional connectivity scheme UDAN, the government has elevated the security measures in around 60 airports in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. It will help ensure the security of domestic air passengers traveling from air terminals in relatively backward areas across India.
