Salman Khan has been a staple of the Bollywood Box Office for almost 3 decades now and his upcoming venture seems no different. Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi is set to blaze the box office again with advance booking for the opening day already has reached Rs. 12.43 crore. The film will release on November 12 and is likely to be the biggest ever Diwali grosser.
According to reports coming out in the media, just for the opening day of the film, 4,62,327 tickets have already been sold. While most of the tickets are for the Hindi version, 14,158 have been presold for the Telegu 2D release version as well. The film will be released in Tamil as well, however, the pre-sales have been slightly luke warm there with only 1957 tickets being pre-sold.
There is also added interest in the film after “Tiger”, Salman’s character also made a cameo appearance in Pathaan, confirming the YRF Spy Universe for the elated fans. Tiger 3 is the fifth film in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Pathaan. Tiger 3 will be directed by Maneesh Sharma who had also directed Fan and Band BaajaBaaraat prior to this.
The decision to release the film on Diwali and Lakhsmi Puja was a calculated gamble according to Rohan Malhotra, Vice President, YRF Distribution. According to him, despite this they have seen strong response from audiences in terms of pre-booking, while he did not that the day shows were more popular on the day because people would be planning to participate in Lakhsmi Puja at night. Only time will tell if this gamble of releasing on Diwali pays off in the long run for the company.
On the other hand, reports suggest that the film might not get released in Oman and Kuwait, owing to the towel scene of Katrina Kaif.
