For violating the IPL Code of Conduct during a match against the Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli was fined 10 per cent of his match money. Kohli has accepted responsibility for the Level 1 infraction described in Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
Kohli was penalized for his enthusiastic reaction to CSK batsman Shivam Dube’s wicket. Despite being one of the best batters in the world, Kohli struggled with the bat and was dismissed in the first over of a massive 227-run chase.
The RCB vs CSK match was a nail-biter since both teams played so well. However, CSK prevailed, prevailing by 8 runs.
Devon Conway and Shivam Dube scored fifties batting first, which helped secure the victory. Both players were instrumental in their team’s final score of 227. CSK, during the second innings, maintained a steady nerve, despite prolonged periods of the heavy onslaught and achieved a crucial victory despite a gallant effort from RCB’s Glenn Maxwell and Faf Du Plessis.
The IPL has always been known for its intense and competitive cricket, and Kohli’s actions were deemed to be against the spirit of the game. The IPL Code of Conduct ensures that players maintain the highest standards of behaviour, and any code breach is dealt with strictly.
